Realising the Good University: Social Innovation, Care, Design Justice and Educational Infrastructure

This paper is a contribution to the collective work of imagining better universities. It starts from Raewyn Connell’s account good university, and develops four main ideas. insistence on thinking about universities as real workplaces, with workforces doing that has consequences, provides disciplining foundation. On this basis, we must acknowledge although changes are often set in motion outside their realisation always depends university staff students. Secondly, research learning teaching spaces which they unfold can contribute change by providing stronger concepts clearer language imagine, discuss plan. Thirdly, course curriculum redesign, oriented great challenges our students will be tackling next few decades, would benefit an infusion practices values fields social innovation participatory design, design for needs grounding justice. Finally, I outline some implications infer — understood both postdigital postcritical perspective. A connecting theme within exploration care thoughtful work.
